Sue Lockwood: Book Launch

  • Melbourne Athenaeum Library Level 1, 188 Collins Street Melbourne. (map)

Sue's elegant "Last Train", which is included in the collection, is featured in the first edition of an exciting new online poetry journal, The Marrow, launched today (30 June) by Audrey Molloy, Daragh Byrne and Natalie Bührer. You can read "Last Train" and the other fine poems in this first edition here.

The Flowering Dark is Sue's debut collection and it is very impressive. Mark has summed up his view of the book in the following words:

Here is a poet of philosophical refinement and linguistic delicacy, who is happy to get her hands dirty.

We are publishing the book, of course, so it goes without saying that we believe in it. But you don't have just our word for it. Here's what renowned poet Judith Beveridge had to say:

Compelling and wise, these poems argue that poetry must be a matter of passion and deep engagement with craft...a masterful collection that sings line by line.

and Audrey Molloy:

I've read this gem of a collection over and over and fallen in love with more poems at each pass.

and Kate Middleton:

Sue Lockwood's poetry is carved into the page with striking deftness; her language opens the world in front of the reader.

As well as being full of fine poems, this book is a beautiful object that would grace any bookshelf. Why not add it to yours now? It is available from our online bookshop, and you are just one click away.
